Dear Paul,
The tragic news of your passing came as a profound shock to us all.
This loss is felt deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing you and working with you.
I will always keep in my memory how special you were- kind, dependable, fair. You spent a lot of time sharing with me your knowledge about working at Emirates, you supported me in difficult moments. I admired the insight and perceptiveness with which you recognized and solved problems, you always had good ideas, bringing a positive attitude even during challenging times, encouraging others around you.
Thank you for all I learned from you, thank you for the time we worked together and conversation we had during these 13 years.
I know you wouldn’t like too many words…

Paul was not only an outstanding professional – sharp, fair, and exceptionally smart – but also one of the most quietly kind and helpful people I’ve had the privilege to work with.
He had that rare ability to stay calm and composed in any situation, and to offer help without ever making a fuss. Whether it was an insightful perspective in a tough meeting, or a quick word of encouragement in the hallway – Paul always knew what was needed, and how to give it without drawing attention to himself.
His dry sense of humour was legendary. With just a few understated words, he could bring a room to laughter – or perfectly defuse a tense moment. His spirit was quick, his remarks always carried that unmistakable British charm.
I will miss Paul deeply – as a colleague, a sounding board, as soccer fan, as adviser, as master of creating win-win solutions.
My thoughts are with his family and everyone who had the chance to know and work with him.
Paul, it was truly an honour.

Ich nehme an lieber Paul, dass du, wo immer du auch auf uns herabschaust, uns dieses milde Lächeln mitschickst.
Ich habe dich als Kollegen sehr geschätzt und werde dich immer im Herzen behalten.

Lieber Paul,

es fehlen die Worte, die auch nur annaehernd beschreiben koennten, wie sehr du uns fehlst. Fuer mich hast die diese seltene Kombi aus blitzgescheit, hilfsbereit und freundlich mit der besonderen Note Humor verkoerpert. Nichts war dir zu kompliziert, immer hast du ein offenes Ohr fuer unsere Anliegen und Fragen gehabt. Es war immer ein besonderes Vergnuegen, mit dir zu tratschen, wenn du am Flughafen warst oder wir uns bei einer Firmenfeier gesehen haben. Moegen dir alle Engerl zur Seite stehen auf deinem letzten Flug.
Danke, dass wir fast 2 Jahrzehnte Kollegen sein durften.

Your vast knowledge will be deeply missed. You never left a question unanswered, and you were one of those people who explained so much to me and from whom I was able to learn a lot of skills. I hope the angels will watch over you and that you will find infinite peace. I will miss you not only as a person but also as a wise advisor with great competence. Dear Ingrid and Philip,

I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to both of you and the family for this unmeasurable sudden loss.

May the Almighty give you the strength during these very emotional and heart breaking moments of trauma. This very unexpected loss for your family, friends and people associated to you all is a shuddering shock. My prayers go out for you all to deal with various aspects that have suddenly unfolded in your life for your valued irreplaceable loss.
I express my tearful fair well with a heavy heart for having known Paul since the past 20 years.
Having worked with Paul for 13 odd years and having being away since 9 years thereafter, I too have felt the impact. I had learnt a lot under Paul’s leadership. After I left Vienna, I was happy that we could exchange present conversations and have short chats via text from time to time. It was very nice to have been welcomed so warmly by him to the office last May 2024 when I paid a visit to the office at Vienna. I will always remember him for years to come, his laughter and pleasant smile and all that I learnt to become a perfectionist in all that I do. Thanks to him.
