Dear Jim, Hasan and Yousef and families,
Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your mother and grandmother. It was a privilege to care for my beloved aunt over these past years, and I witnessed in many conversations how deeply she loved you.
She also carried a lifelong love for Austria in her heart — for her friends who stayed close to her until the end, for the quiet walks in the Wienerwald, for flowers, and for the old villages she knew so well. She often said that “an old tree cannot be transplanted,” and this was her way of expressing how strongly she felt connected to her home.
I hope it brings you some peace to know that she remained surrounded by the people, places, and memories that gave her comfort. And I hope her resting place here in Austria can be a bridge between both worlds she cherished — you in the United States and the homeland that shaped her life.
May her memory be a blessing to all of you.
Martin and Doris
